From the opening of the railway in 1979 to the merger of the two railways in 2007, the Hong Kong MTR was a railway system network operated by the MTR Corporation Limited (now known as the MTR Corporation). It has 7 routes and a total length of 91.0 kilometers , with 53 stations. 14 of them are transfer stations.
